ABOUT THE PRE-OPTOMETRY PROFESSIONAL SOCIETY @ Ut arlington
UTA's Pre-Optometry Professional Society chapter is an established student organization that works to inform University of Texas at Arlington students about the field of optometry. We encourage active membership and engagement through the provision of hands-on experience in visual health through various social, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities. UTA POPS members are active participants in community service (most specifically, by conducting free vision screenings!) in the DFW metropolitan area.
Throughout each school year, various optometry school admissions staff, local optometrists, and Kaplan/Princeton Review representatives are invited to speak at our general meetings. UTA POPS also takes semesterly trips to tour the two optometry schools in Texas: The Rosenberg School of Optometry in San Antonio, and the University of Houston College of Optometry. In addition, UTA POPS attends various conventions hosted by the Texas Optometric Association, such as Fall Forum and Spring Conference.
UTA POPS' mission statement ultimately is to help students interested in the profession of optometry to become well-rounded, competitive applicants in order to best achieve their career goals!
